Doctors Grinde, Solomon, Glover and Wright are university-trained, board certified ophthalmologists, with prestigious fellowships in retina and vitreous — disease and surgery. Our practice is devoted to providing Nashville and the mid-state region with expert diagnosis and treatment of diseases and disorders of the retina and vitreous.

As consultants, Retina Consultants of Nashville accepts patients at the request of other physicians or eye care specialists for the purpose of consultations or second opinions. We are also proud to partner with ORA, the world’s leading ophthalmic research organization, to provide our patients cutting edge clinical trial opportunities.

MEET OUR DOCTORS

Stephen E. Grinde, MD

Dr. Grinde arrived in Nashville in 1983, completing both his ophthalmology residency and vitreoretinal fellowship at Washington University/Barnes Hospital in St. Louis.

He brought and devised new and innovative techniques to the area, many of them firsts in Nashville. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, member of the American Society of Retinal Surgeons, the Cibis Retinal Society, former chair of the Centennial Department of Ophthalmology, and past president of the Nashville Academy of Ophthalmology.

He retired in late 2019.

Marcus J. Solomon, MD

Dr. Solomon was raised in the northern Chicago suburbs.  He graduated from Indiana University with a degree in chemistry and minor in psychology.

He then attended medical school at the Medical College of Virginia and did his residency in ophthalmology and fellowship in vitreo-retinal surgery at the University of Illinois in Chicago.  He was chosen to be chief resident and after completing fellowship stayed at the university as an Assistant Professor.  He started practice at Retina Associates in Chicago in 1996 and practiced in the Chicago area for 14 years before relocating to Nashville in 2009 with his wife and two children.

He is a fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, a member of the American Society of Retinal Surgeons and the Nashville Academy of Ophthalmology.

Outside of work, Dr. Solomon enjoys spending time with his family, reading as well as physical activity.

Jay P. Glover, MD

Dr. Glover was born and raised in Little Rock, Arkansas. He graduated from the University of Arkansas on a full academic scholarship before completing medical school at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences.

He performed his ophthalmology residency at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, where he was elected Chief Resident by his peers. He subsequently completed a two year vitreo-retinal fellowship at the University of Alabama/Retina Specialists of Alabama combined program, one of the highest volume surgical fellowships in the nation.

After completing fellowship in 2017, Dr. Glover joined Retina Consultants of Nashville and moved to the area with his wife, Analise, who is a native Nashvillian. Outside of work, Dr. Glover enjoys spending time with his wife and his three young children. He is an avid sports fan and continues to cheer for his Razorbacks.

Lauren M. Wright, MD

Dr. Wright graduated summa cum laude from Nazareth College in Rochester, NY and attended medical school at SUNY Upstate in Syracuse, NY. After completing residency training at the University of Texas in San Antonio, TX, she pursued a two-year vitreoretinal surgery Fellowship at Boston University in Boston, MA.

Dr. Wright has numerous peer-reviewed publications and has earned national merit for her research, including a Knights Templar Eye Foundation Grant Award for her work on intravitreal drug delivery and distinction from the American Society of Retina Specialists’ for top research by a surgical retina fellow. Dr. Wright is an active member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the Association for Research and Vision in Ophthalmology, and the American Society of Retina Specialists.
